A few days ago, Apple released their thinnest product ever, the iPad Pro. After the launching of the new iPad Pro, Apple’s vision is now to bring this design philosophy to other devices also, mainly to the iPhone. As per the latest report, Apple’s approach towards the thinnest and lightest device can be seen on their other devices too, though the users have to wait until next year.

As per the news by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on the Power On newsletter, “Apple’s new iPad Pro sets the stage for thinner iPhones and other devices. Over the past several years, Apple appeared to be shifting away from making devices as thin and light as possible.”
With the release of the new iPad Pro, Apple is now confident enough to make the thinnest device without compromising in the battery life. That’s why Apple is now focusing on making the iPhone thin and light including their other devices such as the Apple Watch and MacBook as per Gurman. Though we have seen that for the past few years, Apple shifted from a thinner design to a thicker one for the MacBook and Apple Watch, the main reason behind this is to provide a bigger battery without compromising to add new features. But with the release of the new iPad Pro, the design philosophy of Apple now again shifted towards the thinner design. It’s now a proven formula for Apple to make the thinnest and lightest design without compromising the addition of new features and better battery life. According to Gurman, “The plan is for the latest iPad Pro to be the beginning of a new class of Apple devices that should be the thinnest and lightest products in their categories across the whole tech industry.”
But there are some other form factors too if we consider the other devices especially the MacBook and Apple Watch. Over the past two years, Apple has increased the thickness of the MacBook not only to enhance battery capacity but also to reintroduce ports that were removed in previous thinner designs. If Apple were to revert to a thinner and lighter design philosophy for the MacBook, it might necessitate removing some ports. Additionally, the Apple Watch is a compact device, leaving limited space to accommodate all functionalities. However, for the iPhone, Maybe Apple can shift to a thinner design for the sake of better looking and lightweight.
Nevertheless, we have to wait for a few years to know if Apple will start to make all of their devices thinner and lighter, or just only the iPhone. For now, Apple is focusing on developing a skinnier phone for the iPhone 17, 2025, according to Gurman.
